In many places in Skriv, users are represented by an avatar image, which lets you know who is assigned to a project, or who has written a comment.

You can see your own avatar image in the upper right corner of the interface.

By default, images represent an anonymous user:

To personalize this image, Skriv uses the Gravatar service. This service is provided by the creators of WorPress, to display the avatar images of people who post comments on WordPress blogs. But since this service is open to everyone, many websites and web services use it.

We will see how to create a Gravatar account, and how to use it together with Skriv.

Gravatar account creation

To begin, know that the link is with your email address. You need to create a Gravatar account using the same email address as your Skriv account. If you already have a Gravatar account, no problem: the same account Gravatar is able to manage multiple email addresses, and even to assign a different image to each of them.

Go to the Gravatar.com site, then click on the "Create your Gravatar" button:

In the form that appears, fill in the fields with your email address, the username of your choice, and a password:

Click on the "Continue" button. A confirmation email will be sent to you:

Click on the "Activate Account" button. A page will open, with a confirmation message:

By clicking on the "Sign in to Gravatar" button, you will return to the Gravatar service home page.

Adding the image to Gravatar

Go to the Gravatar homepage, then click on the "Login" button at the top right:

Enter the email address and password you chose when creating your Gravatar account.

In your Gravatar account, you can see the list of email addresses associated with this account, and the list of images that you have already downloaded. To add an image, click on the "Add a new image" link at the bottom:

The next page allows you to choose the origin of the image you will add (from your computer, from a URL, or by taking a picture with your webcam). Click on the "Upload new" button:

On the next page, click on the "Choose File" button (which may have a different name depending on your web browser), to select the file you want to send:

Then click on the "Next" button.

The next page allows you to resize the avatar image. The goal is to define a square (or round) image that represents you. When you are satisfied, click on the "Crop Image" button:

You arrive on a page that asks you to classify your avatar image. If the image you have chosen is not provocative, does not contain violence / nudity / drugs or sexual scene, you can simply click on the "Set Rating" button:

That's it, the image is now associated with your email address:

View your avatar in Skriv

In Skriv, go to the management area of your account, by clicking on your avatar at the top right, then on "My account":

In this page you will see your avatar image appear. Click on the "Use this avatar" box, then on the "Save" button:

Here ! Your avatar image will appear correctly on Skriv.

If your picture does not appear on your account management page, check that the email addresses used on Gravatar and Skriv are the same.
